Lodge selection is where a halal safari succeeds or fails. A remote safari lodge cannot improvise a halal kitchen or a prayer space at short notice, so we build itineraries around properties that already have the arrangements in place, confirmed in writing before your trip is finalised — see our halal safaris in Uganda page for how that verification process works.
Marasa Collection
The Marasa Collection is halal-compliant across its Uganda properties, which is a genuine practical advantage: it means a multi-park savanna itinerary can be built entirely within one group's standard rather than switching between properties with different arrangements.
- Paraa Safari Lodge — Murchison Falls National Park, on the northern bank of the Victoria Nile.
- Chobe Safari Lodge — Murchison Falls National Park, overlooking the river from the eastern side of the park.
- Mweya Safari Lodge — Queen Elizabeth National Park, on the Mweya Peninsula between the Kazinga Channel and Lake Edward.
Murchison Palace Lodge
Located in Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Palace Lodge is one of our halal-itinerary properties for travellers building a Nile-focused trip around the falls and the boat safari to their base.
Rubalika Safari Lodge
Rubalika Safari Lodge has a dedicated muswalla (prayer room) on site — a genuine rarity among Uganda safari lodges, most of which rely on a prayer mat and a shown qibla direction rather than a purpose-built space.
Erebero Hills
Near Fort Portal, Erebero Hills serves as a useful base for Kibale Forest chimpanzee trekking, and is used on our halal itineraries covering the western circuit.
Sanctuary properties
Selected Sanctuary properties are used where halal arrangements can be confirmed for your specific travel dates. Availability and standard vary by property, so we confirm this directly with the lodge as part of planning rather than assuming it in advance.
What we confirm before booking any lodge
- Whether meat is sourced halal, and whether the kitchen can separate preparation from non-halal items.
- Whether a dedicated muswalla exists, or whether a prayer mat and shown qibla direction is the standard arrangement.
- Alcohol-free room service and minibar removal, where requested.
- Family room configuration — connected or adjacent rooms for multi-generational groups.
Where a lodge on your preferred route cannot meet this standard, we say so at the planning stage and propose an alternative rather than booking it and hoping it works out on arrival.

Start your bookingFrequently asked questions
Which Uganda lodges are halal-compliant as standard?
The Marasa Collection is halal-compliant across its properties, which covers Paraa Safari Lodge and Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and Mweya Safari Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This makes a two-park savanna circuit straightforward to arrange under one consistent standard.
What if a lodge on my itinerary doesn't have a muswalla?
We provide a prayer mat in the room and show the qibla direction at check-in. Most Uganda lodges can accommodate this without difficulty even without a dedicated prayer room, since the request itself is straightforward.
Can gorilla trekking lodges in Bwindi be arranged halal?
Yes, though this is where advance notice matters most. Bwindi's lodges are remote with limited supply chains, so halal catering needs confirming well ahead of arrival rather than requested on the day. We handle this as part of planning every halal Bwindi itinerary.
Is Rubalika Safari Lodge halal-compliant?
Rubalika Safari Lodge has a dedicated muswalla (prayer room) on site, which we use as one of our halal-itinerary properties.
Tell us your route and we will confirm halal arrangements with each lodge before your itinerary is finalised. Enquire now, or see our full guide to Uganda's luxury lodges.
